A bit morbid calling this a postmortem huh...

What went well?
- Writing went very smoothly. Almost very suspiciously so but I'm glad for it. Maybe it's because I already have a solid image in mind for what I want for this game?
- Same goes with the art. I already know what I wanted from the beginning so It was easy to get it sorted! I had the aesthetics and colors in mind, I also had very little difficulty with ActionEditor despite never having used it.
What did I struggle with?
- Making music is already out of my comfort zone as is, but I did it anyway because I had a very particular idea in mind for this based on my concept and research. I struggled making something that I usually wouldn't (heavy emphasis on chords and strumming, and adding real recording of my cat on top) but I absolutely did not regret it!
What did I learn?
- having a fully planned out story helps with writing (should be obvious in hindsight, but sometimes there's just not enough time to plan)
- I learnt the basics of ActionEditor 3! Very cool! 10/10 would reccommend. Absolutely lifechanging.
- Learnt about ancient greek music, if I may yap about this, it was kinda surprisingly to learn that the lyre is played by strumming, while the finger silence the strings that we don't want playing. All this time I thought it was played like harp, but after realizing that the pro level Lyre is called a Kithara..... Y'know what? Kinda makes sense that it evolved into Guitar and similar instruments. It even sounds a bit like more like a guitar, hence me making the main instrument a mix of two types of guitar to try and emulate the sound of it. That being said, the closest modern example I could find is the Krar/Kirar which is amazing. They even have electric versions?! This research also made me understand what musical modes and scales are, (it's surprisingly a lot easier to understand explained with a lyre. Basically, you play the song in the same string order, but you move one string up or down, that's a new mode! Michael Levy also has a very good video on the different tunings of the modes as well and what feelings they were supposed to represent) I also learnt some smaller facts like the fact that technically if there are multiple instruments, they'd play the same melody, just with different embelishments. It's all very fascinating 10/10 would go down the rabbit hole again
- I made a whole new main menu screen. Got the confidence to try out making custom screens for this which is awesome and definitely not as complicated as I thought it'd be. Hopefully will be using this a lot more in the future :D
Overall, the process went very smoothly, and I learnt a lot from it! ^^
